Coordinator’s welcome Message

My name is Dr. Leah Jerop Komen, PhD and I am thrilled to be your Alumni Affairs and Linkages Coordinator. I graduated with the class of 2003, 2006 & 2007 in three programs here at Daystar University. First, was Diploma in Music, BA in community Development and an MA in Development communication. I then proceeded for my Doctorate in the United Kingdom-University of East London to be specific.

I am more than glad to be asked to serve in my alma mater and my main goal is to also get you involved in one way or another.

The Alumni office was established to facilitate continuous communication with our graduates about what is happening in their alma mater but to also involve our Alumni in the institutional advancement of Daystar University.

Alumni office is headed by a coordinator but receives advisory from the Daystar University as well as the DUAA Board of 7.

The vision of Daystar Alumni office is to to be a professional Christ- centred advancement team supporting the University’s goals in resource mobilisation development and alumni liaisons, to church, workplaces, and society

and our mission is to To mobilize the alumni to support the advancement of Daystar University by cultivating a giving culture, developing long term relationships with alumni and supporters, growing community outreach for both alumni and current students to foster the image of Daystar University.

We hold activities ranging from Home-coming and class reunions to networking events and workshops, worship services, concerts, and sporting events.

Our Daystar Alumni office located at our Nairobi campus also releases quarterly newsletters to our Alumni.

The value of our degree is largely dependent on how firm our alma mater remains true to her calling, commitment to quality and resolve to be the leader in servant leadership, excellence, and integrity. It is therefore paramount that we all pull together to make our alma mater retain her saltness by supporting it.

I would challenge you to think of ways that you can give back to Daystar University to whatever degree you are comfortable. And I do not mean just monetarily, though that is, of course, always welcome. There are many ways to give back, from career and academic mentoring to volunteering time at in-and off- campus events to simply attending academic and social events.

As many of you already know, Daystar University has always been  a special place and no matter how long I have been away, it always feels like home.

My main goal as Coordinator, is to bring you back, too! As a Daystar University graduate you are already a member of the Alumni Association…but I need your help!

Kindly visit the Alumni section of Daystar University’s website to update your contact information or simply email me at lkomen@daystar.ac.ke and cc  Alumni@daystar.ac.ke or friendsofdaystar@daystar.ac.ke

I’m looking forward to connecting with you and I encourage your participation in our Alumni Association. We are stronger together and your involvement is vital to keeping our traditions and values alive
