[February 10, 2026] The Institute of Policy and Development Studies (IPDS) represented Daystar University at the 9th International Conference on the Future of Women. The conference which was organised by the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) took place in Bali Indonesia from 9th -10th February, 2026.

The Daystar University delegation which was led by the Director of IPDS, Dr. Kennedy Ongaro, included Deputy Director Dr. Mary Mogute, faculty member Dr. Elizabeth Kithuka, and five PhD students namely Elvis Ingadi, Rael Kwamboka, Jacqueline Muthoni, Lilian Wamuyu, Joan Ogonji; and Sandra Kyanui, an undergraduate student.

The Future of Women Conference 2026 (FOW 2026) is a global platform dedicated to exploring gender inequality through feminist perspectives in global contexts.

With the Global Gender Gap Report 2024 revealing that full gender equality is still years away, urgent action is needed to close gaps in political empowerment, leadership, and economic inclusion.

FOW 2026 fosters dialogue, collaboration, and action planning through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops to drive transformative changes at local, national, and global levels.

With more than 1200 participants from over 50 countries and 150 universities attending, FOW 2026 featured dynamic keynote speeches, expert-led panel discussions, interactive workshops designed to inspire action and collaboration, and an international exhibition in which Daystar also participated.

In a plenary discussion, Dr. Ongaro underscored Daystar University’s influence and recognition in international academic platforms.

The IPDS attendance was part of an ongoing collaboration between Daystar University and TIIKM, through which several faculty members from the Institute will serve in key roles including the Scientific Committee and Panel Leadership.

The Daystar-TIIKM collaboration presents a significant opportunity for the University to showcase its leadership and expertise in gender studies, mental health, policy development, and social transformation. The collaboration also allows Daystar University students not only to participate in international conferences but also to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals.

Additionally, this global platform amplifies feminist responses to local and international challenges, fostering dialogue on women’s leadership, decision-making, and workforce inclusion.
