[Nairobi: 19th February, 2026] Olympic legend and national hero Dr. Kipchoge Keino will on Saturday, 7th March 2026, flag off a Daystar University Charity Run, dubbed L.A.P Run, at the Nairobi Arboretum.
The L.A.P (Laban Ayiro Peter) Run, is intended to raise scholarships to support students with financial struggles.
The Inaugural 2026 Edition of the L.A.P Run will bring together students, staff, alumni, and the wider community in a shared mission to uplift underprivileged students within the Daystar University community, including those living with disabilities as well as international students with financial struggles away from home.
Runners and walkers will cover 5km, 10km, or 21km as per their preference, all beginning and ending at the Nairobi Arboretum. The event is designed to encourage participation at all fitness levels.
Speaking about the vision behind the run, Daystar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro said “The L.A.P Run is a celebration of unity, resilience, and compassion. As we launch this annual event, each step we take together will uplift dignity, support inclusion, and strengthen our community bonds.”
Legendary athlete Dr. Kipchoge Keino, whose achievements have inspired generations of runners across Kenya and the world, will officially start the race. This symbolic moment will reinforce the run’s commitment to athletic excellence and community empowerment.
Proceeds from the event will support initiatives focused on accessibility, support services for persons living with disabilities, and other campus upliftment programs. Organizers are also inviting businesses, alumni, and friends of the university to partner in sponsorship.
