Daystar enhances Quality mechanism for its PhD dissertations

[Athi River: June 9, 2026] Rosslynne Anyango Odondo made history as the first PhD candidate to present her research findings under the new Doctoral Colloquium Framework. Rosslynne is pursuing a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing). Her Dissertation was titled: "Generative Artificial Intelligence Adoption, Government Regulations and Customer Engagement in the Content Creation Industry: A Meta-Analysis".

The presentation was attended by her supervisors, with Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro serving as the first supervisor, alongside Dr. Ann Mwangi.

The colloquium was conducted by the newly established Doctoral Research Oversight Committee. DROC is Daystar University’s quality-assurance panel for doctoral studies, which aims to strengthen academic supervision through a standard, transparent, and high-quality framework. The panel chaired by the Director Graduate School, Dr. Emmanuel Wanyonyi, comprised of:

Rosslynne is projected to graduate in November 2026. Her journey through the doctoral program highlights a steady and dedicated timeline:

• December 2024: Completed coursework.

• April 23, 2025: Proceeded to present her research concept.

• November 26, 2025: Successfully held her public proposal defense.

• January 29, 2026: Participated in the Doctoral Forum

• May 6, 2026: Completed data verification stage.

• June 9, 2026: Presentation to DROC.

In an interview with the Infospot, Associate Dean / Programme Leader, Dr. Joanes Kyongo, attributed Rosslynne’s achievement to the intense and in-depth dissertation writing culture in SBE.

“This comprehensive process clearly demonstrates the rigour and efficacy of dissertation writing for both Masters and Doctoral students in the School of Business and Economics!” said Dr. Kyongo.

The interview also highlighted that Roseline Odondo's presentation is part of a broader doctoral assessment process, with nine other PhD candidates set to appear before the panel.

Dr. Kyongo described Rosslynne as a student who is knowledgeable, focused, and meticulous in everything she does. He also affirmed the strict operational efficiency in the School of Business and Economics, which ensures release of official defense comments and minutes to both students and their supervisors within 30 minutes after presentation.
