[Athi River: July 13, 2026] Daystar University, in partnership with Concise Projects Limited, officially broke ground to officially launch the construction of the Masqani Hostel outside the Main Campus Athi River.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the Chair of the University Council, Prof. George Njoroge, Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, members of the University Management, Director, Concise Projects Limited, Mr. Ebenezer Odoom , Director of Kingdom Capital Africa Limited and lead partner, Mr. Mike Wamae, staff, student leaders, other representatives from Concise Projects Limited and other distinguished guests.
In his address, Prof. Njoroge described the project as a strategic investment in the University's future, noting that its impact will extend beyond the campus to benefit the wider community.
"By building the Masqani Hostels, we are creating an environment where students can grow into great leaders who will make a positive impact in this country and across the world," he said.
Prof. Njoroge emphasized that the project represents more than the construction of buildings. Rather, it is an investment in the development of future generations. He expressed gratitude to all the partners committed to making the initiative possible, and prayed for God's blessings upon the project.
Speaking on behalf of Concise Projects Limited, Mr. Ebenezer Odoom thanked Daystar University for entrusting the company with the project. He reaffirmed the firm's commitment to delivering quality accommodation that will enrich students' learning experience.
Describing the groundbreaking as a historic occasion, Mr. Odoom said the ceremony signified the fulfilment of a shared vision.
"Our passion is to undertake projects that serve humanity. Today's groundbreaking is not merely the beginning of construction, but the realization of a vision made possible by the grace of God," he remarked.
He added that the opportunity to undertake the project was a privilege and acknowledged God's faithfulness in bringing the vision to fruition.
The Director of Kingdom Capital Africa Limited and lead partner, Mr. Mike Wamae, revealed that planning for the project began two years ago. He noted that the Masqani Hostel Project is designed to provide world-class accommodation that meets the evolving needs of Daystar University students.
Also addressing the gathering, Board Member of Concise Projects Limited, Dr. Clement Dondoo, described the project as an investment in the future of young people.
"This is more than the commencement of a construction project. It is the beginning of an investment in future generations. Our students deserve safe, secure, and quality accommodation that supports their academic journey," he said.
Representing the student body, Daystar University Students Association (DUSA) Secretary-General Mr. Gareth Oseko welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the new hostels will provide a safe, secure, and conducive living environment to students.
Delivering his remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro reaffirmed the University's commitment to the partnership and assured the developers of the institution's full support throughout the project's implementation.
He observed that the Masqani Hostels will significantly ease the University's accommodation challenges while providing students with a comfortable environment in which to live and learn.
"Masqani Hostels will truly become a home away from home," said Prof. Ayiro.
He encouraged all stakeholders to continue strengthening their collaboration for the benefit of the University community and expressed his desire for the hostels to be a place characterized by peace, security, and excellence.
Reflecting on the University's growth, Prof. Ayiro attributed every milestone achieved at Daystar University to God's faithfulness. Quoting Psalm 127:1, he committed the project to God's guidance and protection, praying for its successful completion.
Delivering the sermon for the day, Prophet David Owusu reminded the congregation that although people construct buildings, God is the ultimate builder and sustainer of every vision.
He drew from Philippians 1:6, further expressing confidence that God who had initiated the vision would grant the project team the grace, wisdom, and strength to successfully complete it. Prophet Owusu urged all stakeholders to work together in unity to turn the vision into reality.
In dedicating the construction site, Prophet Owusu prayed for divine protection over everyone involved in the project, declaring that the construction would be free from accidents and injuries and that the completed facility would stand as a testimony to God's faithfulness.
The ceremony culminated in a symbolic tree-planting exercise representing growth, sustainability, unity, and a shared commitment to nurturing a project that will positively shape the lives of generations of Daystar University students.
