Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute (DLPDI)

Business environment is constantly changing and therefore requiring new strategies both to survive and to make meaningful progress. Business and organizational leaders need to constantly re-tool in order to respond to the changing dynamics. In recognition of this dynamism, Daystar University created the Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute (DLPDI) with a mandate to offer short courses that impart practical skills to professionals in the various sectors.

DLPDI short courses are run by two arms namely;

  • Christian Ministries and Training (DLPDI-CMT) ILPD-Executive Education (DLPDI-exEDU)
  • DLPDI-CMT’s courses are tailor-made for Church and community leaders while DLPDI-exEDU’s courses target corporate leaders

The DLPDI courses are designed to help business and organizational leaders to explore ways of moving their businesses forward. As such, the courses are conducted in a facilitative way with emphasis on current trends and practical ways that can help an organization fulfill its mandate. The courses are conducted in such a way that allows maximum interactions and networking among participants.

Mission & Objectives


DLPDI exists to support the vision and mission of Daystar University by providing Christ-Centerd specialized education and services to leaders of churches, Christian institutions and individuals involved in serving the wider society so as to enhance biblical values, professionalism, and excellence for the transformation, reformation, and renewal of the Church and society in Africa and the world.



The objectives of DLPDI are to:

  1. Provide formal and non-formal training to Christians so as to equip them with specialized knowledge and work skills that enhance effectiveness and professionalism in the service to the Church and society;
  2. Offer training that promotes biblical values of integrity, excellence, and a holistic view of life and ministry among Christians as servant leaders to the Church and society;
  3. Coordinate and facilitate consultation, networking, and the sharing of knowledge and experiences among Church leaders, Christian professionals and institutions for the purpose of advancing knowledge, biblical values and promoting social and spiritual renewal and transformation in the Church and society;
  4. Provide opportunities for and to facilitate the Daystar University staff, faculty, and students to minister and serve the Church and society.

Diploma Programmes

1. Diploma In Human Resource Management (DHRM)

2. Diploma in Business Administration and Management (DBAM)

3. Diploma In Information & Communication Technology (DICT)

4. Diploma in Communication


Overall Admission Requirements for the Diploma Programmes

  1. C- (Minus) in KCSE; or
  2. Two Subsidiaries in ‘A’ Level; or
  3. Division IV (Four) in KCE Certificate with a credit pass in Mathematics, English and four (4) other units; or Three (3) credits in GC E, or
  4. Other equivalent qualifications as may be approved by the University Senate.

Duration:2 Years

Uniqueness: With a heavy and compulsory industrial attachment component equivalent to six (6) credit hours, state-of-the-art facilities, qualified lecturers and a reputable world class University, the Daystar Diploma programmes are designed to usher graduands into entrepreneurship and employment in the competitive job market.
