Introduction

The research focus for the current strategic plan (2016-2021) is to promote focused and innovative impactful research. In this context, the University encourages its faculty and students to carry out research in focused areas that have impact on the community, the nation and beyond. The University is keen in supporting research in the themes spelt below that would have impact in the areas surrounding Athi River Campus. Faculty and students are therefore encouraged to focus their research on the themes below. The two broad themes are environment and poverty with sub-themes as indicated under each theme. The themes are broad enough for all schools and departments to find their niche.
