EVENT: Daystar University Launches School of Law Complex

DATE: 15th April 2026

[Nairobi, 15th April 2026] The Most Reverend Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop and Primate of All Kenya Anglican Church of Kenya has cautioned Law students not to detach law from its moral source.

He said this as he officiated the dedication of Daystar University School of Law Complex: the David Musau Mumama Learning Complex (DMMLC), at the Main Campus Athi River.

In his speech, the Archbishop explained that if law is detached from its moral source, it becomes a tool that controls. He observed that justice is not something people invent but something they respond to, further noting that influence without integrity is potent.

“As we dedicate the Daystar University School of Law Complex, the biggest concern is not the programmes that will be taught at the School but the outcome of what will be taught,” he said.

To the students he had this to say, “You are not getting into a programme, you are stepping into a responsibility.”

The Vice Chancellor recognized His Lordship’s humility and commitment to justice recounting his admiration in how he has positioned himself as an authentic voice of the church in Kenya. The VC noted that David Musau Mumama Learning Complex is not just a building but a vision and act of faith.

“I don’t just see a School of Law, what I see is faith made visible and an answered prayer”, remarked the Vice Chancellor, further urging the Daystar community to appreciate what God has already done in the University. He encouraged Daystarians to embrace oneness.

The Chancellor, Dr. Florence Muindi acknowledged the generosity of the David Musau Mumama family led by their late father, for generously giving 30 acres of land to Daystar University. Referring to the recent developments at Daystar University, the Chancellor said, “Success does not just happen, it takes intentional work.

The Chief Guest Prof. Joseph Wamwara, Dean School of Law at Tom Mboya University, urged the Daystar University School of Law to aim at producing good leaders who will change the nation. He cautioned DUSOLA against killing its dream of building a great nation.

In his remarks, the Dean School of Law, Dr. Maurice Owour analogized Daystar University School of Law to the mastered seed which eventually grows to a massive tree, growth he attributed to faith that is not limited by stereotype but faith of the mastered seed.

Representing the Mumama family, Mr. Benjamin Musau noted that the David Musau Mumama Learning Complex, named in honour of their father, serves as a permanent and public endorsement of his legacy. He expressed deep gratitude to Daystar University stating, “We are deeply grateful and happy to be associated with Daystar University. May this centre spawn the birth of great generations of lawyers, who shall serve the Bar and Bench with distinction, integrity and honour.”

The Head of Alumni Relations Dr. Leah Komen encouraged the Daystar alumni to remember their alma mater by supporting the University’s projects seeing that they (Alumni) carry the history and legacy of Daystar University.

Speaking on behalf of the School of Law Alumni, the Former DUSA Deputy President and Alumnus School of Law, Miss Buke Halkano endorsed the quality of education offered by Daystar University and particularly the School of Law. She took pride in the evident growth in the School of Law achieved over the years, noting that with the launch of the School of Law DMMLC more will be expected of the students, calling them to put more effort in their studies.

lso present to witness the launch and the dedication of David Musau Mumama Learning complex was the presiding Bishop, Machakos Diocese, Rev. Patrick Munuve, General Secretary Anglican Church, Prof. Joseph Galgalo, Daystar University Chancellor, Dr. Florence Muindi, Chair of the University Council Prof. George Njoroge, Chairperson of Daystar Company Limited Mr. Ken Obimbo, Wife to First Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mutheu Talitwala and daughter, Tibaga Talitwala, members of the Daystar Company Board and Daystar University Council, counterparts from other Universities, Management, Senate, Faculty, staff, LLB and LLM students.
