Coordinatingthepreparationofsemestertimetableforclasses, examinations and planning of thesis defense.
Supporting the lecturers in their task of teaching by ensuring the availability of resources and equipment for teaching.
Preparing and revising, as necessary, academic program plans and calendar(teaching,researchandcommunityservice)forthe departments;
Advisingandcounsellingthestudentsregardingtheircourse sequencing, choices and audit of their status; design and implement a student advisory program in the department.
Monitoring performance and attendance of the part-time lecturers and providing induction for new faculty, part time lecturers and visiting faculty in the department.
Preparing, monitoring and reporting of the departmental budgetaryallocations and overseeing the utilization of budgetary resources.
Managing the departmental communication withother constituencies within the university.
Managing and Implementing change initiativesto achieve desired university plans and culture.
Biography
I am a competent economist with vast experience in University teaching, research and consultancy in Kenya and in the region. Currently, I am a senior lecturer and Head of Economics Department at Daystar University; I have been involved in collaborative research with Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) Research Centre, and with the World Bank Group, Macroeconomic and Fiscal Management (MFM) – Kenya, as a Short-Term Consultant (STC); I am often and actively engaged as a resource person with Macroeconomic andFinancialManagementInstituteofEasternandSouthernAfrica (MEFMI) in a number of its capacity building activities, mainly targeted at its Fellow’s Program as well as a number of In-Country missions; I am a peer reviewer for the South African Journal of Economics (SAJE);
I am an external examiner to University of Johannesburg, School of Economics and Econometrics; As my contribution to society I am a member of Board of Management (BOM) of Talai High School, in Baringo County, Kenya, where I Serve as the Chair of the Academic sub-Committee of the Board.
