After a rigorous week filled with many activities, the September 2023 Orientation week culminated in a fun-filled, elegant Freshers’ Dinner. From vibrant music, to perfectly set tables, mouth-watering delicacies and elegantly dressed guests, the dinner was one of its kind, a sweet foretaste of better days ahead for the new students joining Daystar University.

The event, which was held at the Amphitheatre was graced by pioneer Chairman of Daystar University Alumni Association, Mr. Mwaniki Mageria, who was the chief guest.  Mr. Mageria was accompanied by his wife.

In his speech to the freshmen, Mr. Mageria emphasized on the need to not only start well, but also finish well, referring to the new academic season the freshmen had just started.

"As you start well, finish well," he said. He also went on to list the things that one ought to do in order to finish well. First, he urged the students to invest in themselves, taking every opportunity to improve themselves. Secondly, he encouraged the freshmen to invest in others through service. "In order to serve others, you need to learn how to love and accept them," he urged. Lastly, he urged the freshmen to love God.

In attendance was also the orientation team, who offered themselves wholly to ensure that the event ran smoothly.

Fresher’s dinner has been a long-standing tradition at the Daystar University. Held on the Friday evening of every orientation week, the dinner serves as a token of acceptance and incorporation of the new students into the Daystar Community. The goal is to make the freshmen feel welcomed, appreciated and supported as they embark on their academic journey at varsity level. The dinner is also meant to create great memories for the freshmen.

After a great program featuring lots of music and dance, great food and many light moments, the students called it a night around 11pm. When asked about the experience, the freshmen expressed their excitement and delight at having attended the dinner. "I'm glad I got to come. At first, I did not think I would attend because I did not have a dinner dress, but once I got that sorted, I came and it was an experience I won't forget soon," said Ms. Kate. Another freshman, Karen, said the dinner helped them unwind, create good memories and make new friends. The general consensus on the event was that it was a resounding success. The freshmen were now ready to experientially begin campus life.
