On Friday, April 8, 2022, Daystar University held its 12th Annual Diplomatic Dinner for International Students of Daystar University (ISADU), at the Panari Hotel in Nairobi.

On Friday, April 8, 2022, Daystar University held its 12th Annual Diplomatic Dinner for International Students of Daystar University (ISADU), at the Panari Hotel in Nairobi.

The annual event brings together diplomats from the countries represented in the University’s student body for an evening of interaction with international students from their respective countries, and the University leadership.

The theme for the 12th Diplomatic dinner was” Positioning for excellence and purposeful collaborations in diverse cultures”.

Diplomatic missions present included the Embassy of Egypt in Kenya, Uganda High Commission, Tanzania High commission, Embassy of Zimbabwe, Togo Consulate, High Commission of Ghana, and South Sudan Embassy. The event was co-sponsored by RwandAir and Kenya Airways.

The guest speaker, Head of Projects and Infrastructure Finance at the East and Southern Africa Trade and Development Bank, Mr. Frank Kamthunzi was impressed to witness the many international students who studied at Daystar University.

“This is truly an international university,” he said as he advised the students to set realistic goals and compete in order to be successful.

In his speech, the Acting Vice-chancellor, Prof. Muturi Wachira stressed the importance of collaboration. “We would like to see more collaborations with Embassies and High Commissions present so that we can enhance students’ learning experience in Kenya,” he said.

The objectives of the diplomatic dinner were:

  • Provide a forum where international students can interact with their respective Diplomats from their home countries.
  • Enable Ambassadors and High Commissioners to receive firsthand information of how international students live and study in Kenya.
  • Enable international students to establish contacts for job and internship opportunities through interactions with the invited diplomats and companies.
  • Create opportunities for Ambassadors and High Commissioners to speak directly to students on current issues of importance back at home.

Also present was the University senior management, Daystar University Student Association (DUSA) led by the President Mr. Marco Laboso, Faculty members, staff and students.
