School of Communication Hosts Luncheon for Dissertation and Theses Supervisors

Acting VC presents a gift to Ann Mwende for examinating the most MA thesis

[December 4, 2023] The School of Communication hosted a luncheon to appreciate its Faculty and staff for successful supervision and graduation of 8 PhDs and 67 Master’s students during the 46th graduation ceremony held on November 10 2023.

The event which was held at Lukenya Resort was attended by the Acting Vice-chancellor and DVC FAP Prof. Muturi Wachira, the host-Dean School of Communication, Prof. Levi Obonyo, HoD Media and Film Studies Dr. Emmanuel Wanyonyi, HoD Strategic and Organizational Communication Dr. Daniel Aswani, the HoD Language and Performing Arts Ms. Brenda Wambua, Faculty and staff..

Speaking at the Luncheon, the Dean School of Communication Prof. Levi Obonyo lauded Faculty and staff in the department for pulling together to ensure successful supervision and examination of defenses and dissertations.

In particular, the Dean appreciated Dr. Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Mrs. Winnie Mbatha for coordinating supervision and examination of PhD dissertation and MA thesis, and Administrators for the work they did in coordinating the process of defenses. He also lauded supervisors and examiners for putting in many hours to ensure that the students graduated.

“This is the largest number the School of Communication has graduated ever. A big thank you to all of you,” he said, adding that Daystar University produces quality work.

Prof. Muturi Wachira appreciated everyone in the School for the work they are doing, noting that the School of Communication sustains and markets Daystar University in a big way. 

He observed that everyone was important and none should belittle themselves regardless of what they do in the process of thesis supervision.

“We must all get involved and ask if the history of Daystar University and the School of Communication is written, how will your name appear?” was his challenge to the faculty and staff.

Everyone present was presented a thank you card. In addition those who supervised most dissertations and thesis and those who examined most thesis and dissertations were awarded.

The lunch was sumptuous and the fellowship refreshing.
