  • What are the requirements for membership to Daystar University Libraries? Students, staff and faculty are eligible for membership. One has to register by filling in a form that can be obtained in the library. You can also fill this form electronically and send it back to Reference/Instructional Services Librarians:
  • Are Alumni eligible for membership? Daystar University Alumni are allowed to use the library at a nominal fee. Researchers who would like to use the library are required to apply to the University Librarian, who authorizes such requests. However, for these two categories, library resources can be utilized only within the premises. However, they cannot use the library’s e-resources.
  • Have you subscribed to any on-line databases? Daystar University is a member of the Kenya Libraries & Information Services Consortium (KLISC) that subscribes to several full-text online databases through the International Network on Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) and Programme for Enhancement of Research Information (PERI). The databases are available in all our libraries and around the campuses where Wi-Fi is enabled. Access is via Internet Protocol (IP), thus passwords are not required.
  • Where can I do photocopying or printing? Library patrons are required to borrow the materials required for photocopying and leave their identity cards with the library security personnel to photocopy materials at the outsourced providers. Printing services are provided in all our campuses in the Multimedia Resource Centers.
  • What should I do if I lose my student/staff card and I still want to borrow books from the Library? Students should get a letter from the Dean of Students stating that they have lost their identity cards. However, every effort should be made to get a replacement. Staff should report to the Human Resources Department for a replacement.

  • What is the Copyright Act and how does it affect me as a library user? The Copyright Law permits photocopying of 10% or less of any material for academic purposes. Un-authorized photocopying is not permissible and is viewed as a criminal offence. Library patrons are encouraged to observe this law and all users of library materials and equipment shall observe these limits, whether on library premises or elsewhere.
