Daystar University has emerged as the most preferred Institution of Higher Learning. This was announced at the Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), on November 23, 2023.

Daystar University has emerged as the most preferred Institution of Higher Learning. This was announced at the Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), on November 23, 2023.
The theme for this year’s Uongozi Career Awards- was Recognizing Excellence in Employability.
The achievement was attributed to the University’s exceptional contribution that aligns with Uongozi Career Awards’ mission of nurturing future-ready, career-aware, and employable future leaders in East Africa.
At the same ceremony, Daystar University Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban Peter Ayiro was feted the Vice-chancellor of the year 2023 while the Career Placement Officer Mrs. Nita Kihiro won the 1st Runners-up in the Career and Placement Director of the Year category.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Laban Ayiro said Daystar University constantly seeks to do its best in offering quality education. He was categorical that one should not look for success but for significance.
“The more you give the more you rise to significance,” said the VC, further revealing that although a Vice-chancellor, he teaches Postgraduate classes and supervises theses and dissertations.
Prof. Ayiro cautioned policy makers to be careful with the ongoing educational reforms, saying that if as a country we lose it in education, and if we don’t offer quality education, the country will sink.
In recognition of the good work the forum is doing for the youth by giving them hope and skills, the good Professor promised that Daystar University would be one of the sponsors of 3rd Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards in 2024.
Uongozi Career Awards is a platform that recognizes, celebrates, honors, and amplifies the dedicated efforts of individuals, initiatives, and institutions that champion employability in East Africa.
This is achieved through career development, leadership, creating internship opportunities, mentorship, career coaching, career counselling, promotion of mental wellness, education financing, resource allocation, academic linkages, promoting innovations, entrepreneurship, and other initiatives that foster a smooth transition from learning to earning. Uongozi Career Awards was launched in 2022.
