Chapter Formation

The chapters are the engine of the association. There are several alumni chapters that already exists some have been launched and others are yet to be launched based on the numbers. The chapters are categorized in the following Manner

Membership in a chapter will transcend geographic limitations. One is free to be a member of a chapter based on his/her preference and sense of belonging. The level of engagement in the chapters will be critical. Communication channels such as video conferencing (Skype), social media (Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn), electronic Mail (email) and teleconferencing will be useful.

How to Register a Chapter

All members of a chapter should be registered members of the DUAA. Members wishing to form a Chapter should seek guidance and apply through the Secretariat.

Class Chapters

How is formed
Based on the year of graduation e.g. Class of 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998….2020 etc.

How can be a members
Those who graduated in that year and anyone willing to join

Regional/Province

How is formed
Based regions/Provinces. E.g. Coast Chapter, Rift-Valley Chapter, Central, Nairobi

How can be a members
Those who live or work in any of the regions

Countries

How is formed
Based on country of origin or working E.g Congo, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, USA e.t.c

How can be a members
Alumni who live or live and work outside kenya

Interest Groups

How is formed
Formed based on interest in different fields e.g Ministry, Entrepreneurs, Communicators, Journalists, e.t.c

How to Register a Chapter

All members of a chapter should be registered members of the DUAA. Members wishing to form a Chapter should seek guidance and apply through the Secretariat.

The level of engagement in the chapters will be critical. As envisioned in Article Four of the Association’s constitution, the chapters are mandated with the following roles:

  • The chapters will advance the vision, mission, values, and functions of DUAA and Daystar University.
  • The chapters shall plan, implement and coordinate chapter activities in liaison with the secretariat
  • The goals and objectives of the Chapters shall support the goals and objectives of the Association.
  • The Board may recommend the establishment or dissolution of a Chapter.
  • All Chapter projects and administration costs will be met by the Chapter from financial resources mobilized by its members.
  • Each DUAA chapter shall elect an executive committee of not more than seven members. The chair of the executive committee shall liaise with the Board through the Secretary: Projects and Chapter Development
  • Alumni Chapters will work with the Secretariat and the University to organize events such as Alumni Days to popularize the University in their localities and recruit new members.
  • The chapters shall nominate one candidate for election to the DUAA global board.
  • Chapter Launching and oversee the leadership of chapters
  • Provide meeting venues within the university
  • Help in Coordinating events for the chapters
  • Creation of Publicity Material for each Chapter
  • Communicate with Chapter members
