School of Applied Human Sciences - Educational tour to Machakos County
Development Studies and Psychology students at Machakos County office
On 1st March, 2023 Psychology and Development Studies students toured Machakos County where they visited, among others, the Office of the Governor, the County Assembly, and Machakos Level Five Hospital.
The students were accompanied by their lecturer, Dr. Elizabeth Kithuka.
Those from Development studies were interested in knowing issues to do with devolution of funds, how it is being implemented, administrative structures and protocol, and challenges facing its implementation.
Psychology students were taken through sessions such as HIV testing, pre- and post- counselling during HIV testing, record keeping, nutrition for people living with HIV and AIDS and Home-based Care.
At the County Assembly, the students were taken through how County Assembly is conducted and the special issues that must be observed during county assembly sessions.
Representing the Governor was the Deputy Governor, Hon. Francis Mwangangi, accompanied by Chief Officer Department of Education-Vocational and Skills Training- Hon. Simon Mwako, Head of Governor’s delivery Team - Hon. Justus Muasya, Director Department of Education Vocational and Skills Training- David Kitavi Musau, and Administrative Officer, Department of Education, Vocational and Skills training- Ms. Gladys Mumbua.
