On April 19, 2023, Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute, (DLPDI) graduated 80 students who participated in the Destiny Ex-candidates program since January 2023.

The graduation which was themed, “Marching Towards My Destiny” was held at the DAC Auditorium, Nairobi Campus.

The guest speaker for the day was the CEO, German Institute of Professional Studies, Dr. Ekrah Ndungu. Dr. Ndungu advised parents to nurture young people, seeing that they were their number one motivators.

“Never give up on any of your children regardless of how they turn out or the grade they attain in form four,” she cautioned.

Dr. Ndungu further advised the graduands to keep learning and sharpening their skills, and to take up leadership positions at an early age. “Don’t wait to get titles or leadership positions, begin now at home, in school and in the society.”

Dr. Ndungu encouraged them to embrace personal branding and be innovative in order to position themselves in the market.

The Director DLPDI Prof. Abraham Waithima revealed that the Destiny programme was crafted in 2015 to help high school leavers transit to university and tertiary institutions with ease. He explained that the programme equips young people with problem solving and decision-making skills, budget planning, and gives them a spiritual compass for life and by enabling them to appreciate their personalities.

On his part, the University Chaplain, Rev. Miano Weche urged the ex-candidates to never retreat but always press on to the future and destiny. He also advised the young people to always put their trust in God.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mrs. Jane Nyaga reminded the youngsters that they were the authors of their lives.

“Create your memories and dreams, and out of those dreams will stem out your destiny. In everything you do, allow yourself to be guided by God,” she advised.

Mr. Nelson Maina, also speaking on behalf of the parents advised the graduands to have Jesus at the centre of their lives. “Will what you have learned in Daystar University take you for the next 20 years?” he posed.

Brain Sena, a graduand, urged his colleagues to utilize their time well, saying that opportunities come only once.

On her part, Grace Mumo thanked the University for equipping them with life-skills, and parents for supporting them. She further challenged fellow graduands to apply the knowledge they had acquired from the programme.
