January Semester begins
Classes for the January 2022 Semester officially start on Monday 17th January following the end the freshmen orientation week on 15th January, and the return of continuing students after the Christmas break. We wish all students the best as they commence their studies.

Groundbreaking Ceremony
The School of Nursing will on Tuesday, 18 January 2022 break ground for the construction of Phase 1 of its teaching facility. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place within the Athi River Campus Chapel service scheduled to take place between 8:00am and 12:30pm. Invited to attend are Daystar Company members (Trustees), University Council members, students, staff, Faculty and other invited guests. The vice chancellor will lead the community to plant trees at the end of the ceremony. The DVC-Academic, Research and Student Affairs Prof. Faith Nguru has guided that classes will run as scheduled at the Nairobi Campus, while at the Athi River Campus classes will begin after the ceremony.

Notable faculty achievements
We congratulate the following Faculty members for their achievements:

  • Dr. Emmanuel Wanyonyi , faculty member in the School of Communication and the Ag. HOD for the Department of Media and Film Studies for attaining a PhD in Film Studies from the University of Pretoria.

 

  • Pauline Murumba , a part-time lecturer in the School of Arts and Humanities was recently named the African Athletic Official of the year 2021.

According to the Confederation of African Athletic (CAA), Mrs. Murumba was recognised for her immense contribution towards the success of the 2021 World Athletics Under-20 (U-20) championship staged at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani from August 18th to 22nd 2021.

“It is because of the very important role she played as a referee judge during the 2021 edition of the World U-20 championship organized in Nairobi, a world championship which was a great success,” said CAA.

Previously, Mrs. Murumba has been involved in planning and judging at various world events, including serving as a technical director and on the technical committee of the 2017 World Athletic Under-18 Championships.

In 2020 and 2021, Pauline played an important technical role in the organization of the Nairobi Kip Keino Classic edition.

“Pauline supervised track events in liaison with the relevant International Technical Official (ITO) of World Athletics.
