New students officially matriculated to begin their academic journey at Daystar University.

[Athi River, May 14, 2025 ] Freshmen joining Daystar University for the May 2025 Trimester were officially admitted into the University on May 14 at a colorful matriculation ceremony held at the Amphitheater, Main Campus Athi River.
The matriculation ceremony was attended by members of the University Management, Senate and faculty led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro. Among the key personalities were the Ag. DVC ARSA Prof. Samuel Muriithi, the DVC FAP Prof. Muturi Wachira, the University Registrar Prof. Paul Mbutu, the Principal, Nairobi Campus Prof. Michael Bowen, the Dean of Students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, School Deans, Heads of departments, and staff.
The event kicked off with a procession patronized by academic staff adorned in their academic regalia, symbolizing their commitment to nurture and propel the students' academic pursuit.
The Acting DVC ARSA, Prof. Samuel Muriithi set the tone by pointing out Daystar University's uniqueness which is to provide quality education. He advised freshmen to plan, stay focused, work hard and be disciplined in order to achieve their academic goals
The Associate Dean, School of Communication, Dr. Lydia Radoli, encouraged the freshmen life story as a Diploma student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) over twenty years ago. She humorously recalled how she was nicknamed “toothpick” because she was tall and slender. Today, Dr. Radoli is a seasoned communicator who teaches film and media studies.
Saying that the University is comprised of different people, Dr. Radoli called on the students to exercise empathy in all their dealings.
“The University is a universal embodiment of human beings; it is our mandate to exercise humility and the power to inspire and change certain narratives,” she punctuated her remarks.
In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro highlighted the importance of matriculation, stating that it’s an introductory ritual to the way of life at Daystar University.
“This is very important in your academic journey because you are going to be embedded into the University culture,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor expounded on the word matriculation, saying it signified the students’ commitment to pursue wisdom, truth, and character in line with Daystar University ethos. Re- affirming on his statement, the VC called on the new students to exhibit spiritual discipline, humility and sacrifice as they begin a new academic phase in their life.
The ceremony ended the new students signing the declaration of assent to be faithful to God in their individual pursuit of education at Daystar University, to abide by the University code of conduct.
Following the matriculation, the student portal was opened to enable new students register for classes, set to begin on Monday May 19, 2025.
