Fulbright Scholar at Daystar University for the May 2022 Semester

 

Prof. Kehbuma Langmia, a Fulbright Scholar/Professor from Howard University is in Daystar University as a visiting Professor in the School of Communication.

While at Daystar, Prof. Langmia has taught two courses at PhD level namely: Seminar in Human Communication and Seminar on Applied Organizational Communication.

He also facilitated PhD seminars on the topics: Conversations about the PhD Journey, Mapping out the research proposal/ Mixed Method Research, Adopting to a philosophical paradigm/ Western and Afrocentric Theories, Do’s and don’ts in qualitative research / Data analysis using Dedoose Software, Establishing quality/rigor in qualitative research/ Dependability/confirmability/ Debriefing, and Understanding qualitative philosophical paradigms, among others.

Prof. Langmia is the Chair in the Department of Strategic, Legal and Management Communication, School of Communications, Howard University, USA.

He has extensive knowledge and expertise in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Intercultural, Cross Cultural and International Communication, Black Diaspora Communication Theory, Decolonial Media Studies, social media and Afrocentricity.

Since earning his PhD in Communications and Media Studies from Howard University in 2006, he has published 13 books, 17 book chapters and 10 peer-reviewed journal articles nationally and internationally.

Some of his books are: Black/Africana communication theory, published in 2018 by Palgrave/ Macmillan Press; “Globalization and cyberculture: An Afrocentric perspective” published in 2016 and Social Media: Culture and Identity,” published in 2017 by Palgrave, Macmillan Press & the latter co-edited with Tia Tyree published by Lexington Books. He has recently published, “Digital Communication at Crossroads in Africa: A decolonial approach” in 2020 with Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando. His most recent publication is “Black Lives and digiculturalism” published by Lexington 2021.

Prof. Langmia arrived in the country on 17th May and leaves on 11th August 2022.
