Daystar hosts Nairobi Ni Yetu Peace Campaign ahead of General Elections

The Nairobi Ni Yetu Peace Campaign was held at Daystar University Nairobi Campus on Wednesday, 6th July 2022, themed: Amani ni jukumu langu. The event was focused on promoting peace ahead of the general elections on 9th August 2022.  

The distinguished guests included –the CEO of Music & Copyright Society of Kenya, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, Mr. Daniel Juma of Global Peace Foundation, the Kamkunji District Peace Ambassador Rev. Wilson Omido, Tuva Adams of Tuva -Adams Group, and renowned performing artist Octopizzo.  

The forum was attended by student leaders from Daystar University, Mount Kenya University, Pwani University, and Moi University.   

While introducing his fellow student leaders, DUSA President Mr. Walter Nalwa, strongly stated, “We are not going to allow our country to go back to rags. Upholding peace is what we must do,” he said in reference to the 2007/2008 post-election violence that heavily devastated the country. 

Principal Nairobi Campus, Prof. Michael Bowen welcomed the guests to Daystar University and called on everyone to maintain peace during the General elections.  

Mr. Israel Lugadiru, a Daystar final year student  moderated a panel discussion consisting Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, Daniel Juma, Rev. Wilson Omido, Tuva Adams Tuva, and Octopizzo.  

Using the acronym THINK, the Associate Dean of Students, Mrs. Grace Karanja called on the participants to THINK before saying or posting anything by considering whether the content was True, helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, and Kind.
