Position: University Chaplain (one post)

Purpose of the Job:

Daystar University is looking for a visionary individual to lead its Chaplaincy team to articulate, communicate and implement the spiritual mission of the University. The Chaplain will oversee the spiritual development, and maturity of the student body within the University community preparing them for their careers in the corporate world and in their families.

Suitable persons should have a global outlook (international experience will be an advantage) and demonstrable experience in the leadership and management of Christian programs and activities. They should also have the capacity to raise leaders through structured discipleship programs.

They should be familiar with the operations and challenges of academic/learning environments. The successful candidate will prepare students to positively influence the corporate world with the gospel through servant leadership. Effective candidates will be required to lead and work with a team and collaborate with University officers and staff to shepherd the University community.

Qualifications:

Suitable persons may be drawn from pastors with oversight over church or urban ministry missions, career ministers, pastors or managers of mission teams overseeing the spiritual development of college age communities. Evidence of leading a large congregation (up to 3,000) or ministry will be an added advantage.

Suitable persons shall be over 35 years, have at least a Master’s degree in Theology or it’s equivalent from a recognized university, be an ordained minister and have suitable church or para church experience. Training and experience in discipleship, coaching, mentoring, and counselling among the youth is a welcome advantage. Candidates with international assignment experience are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate can expect to come up with and be assigned rigorous, engaging, and fulfilling roles in course of their duty and be remunerated within the University performance management structures.
