DIDS Participates in UN Disability Day Cerebrations

Daystar Institute of Disability Studies donate foodsstudd to persons living with disability during UN day of disability celebration

On Saturday 3rd December, Dr. Scholastica Githinji led the Daystar Institute of Disability Studies (DIDS) to participate in the UN Disability Day celebrations held at Joska town in Mavoko Sub-county of Machakos County. The celebrations drew participation from Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) and their caregivers from Machakos County.

The Machakos County UN Disability Day Celebration was organised by Recovery Missions for Hope, a non-governmental organization working with Persons with Disability in Machakos County.

According to Dr. Githinji, DIDS participation and support to PLWDs was in line with its fourth mandate on Outreach and Advocacy.

“Daystar University is on the tail end of signing an MoU with Recovery Mission of Hope,” she revealed.

During the event, Persons with disability showcased their skills.

DIDS board and operational team donated maize flour in bales to mitigate famine among persons with disability present.

Other organizations present were: Bridgan schools, Brookshine Schools, Hills View Preparatory Schools, Brookview School, Sunflag Brava, Hon. Dominic Masinde, Edward Wasike, and Pwani Oil among others.
