[Nairobi: November 7, 2025] Colour, rhythm, and tradition marked the long-awaited Nairobi Campus Culture Week, held from November 3 - 6, 2025.
The annual celebration brought together students from diverse cultural backgrounds representing the different communities within the University, creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity, creativity, and cultural pride.
Throughout the week, students wore themed dress codes that turned the campus into a fashion runway.
Monday opened with a bold Cowboy theme, with students showing up in boots, denim, and hats that complemented the theme and highlighted stylish Western looks.
Tuesday featured Y2K fashion, filling the campus with aesthetics dating back to early-2000s, from wide-leg jeans to vibrant accessories and glossy lips.
Wednesday brought the Caribbean theme, with students showing up in colorful printed outfits that channeled the warmth and vibrancy. They also had a color-splash party to compliment the day.
On Thursday, the week closed with a proudly African style themed ‘My Tribe’ as students came out to showcase their cultural roots through traditional outfits as well as modern African styles.
A major highlight of the week was the inter-community cooking and gala performance competitions that brought together cultural groups representing the Luo, Kikuyu, Maasai, Cushite, and South Sudanese communities. Group showcased different dishes, flavours, music, and creative performances that reflected the essence of their heritage and educated others about their communities.
After a timed afternoon cooking competition, the Cushite community emerged winners, impressing judges with their authentic recipes, rich taste in food and outstanding presentation.
In the lively and entertaining gala performance, the Maasai community carried the day, earning the top position with their amazing choreography, rhythmic chants, and a detailed educative cultural display.
The Culture Week showcased the beauty of Kenya, East Africa’s diversity and Daystar University’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, creativity, and understanding among all the communities represented in it.
