There was once a man who landed in a parachute and got stranded in a desert. He prayed daily asking God to send someone to rescue him, but to his disappointment, no one ever appeared. Months passed and this man learned how to survive on the desert. During this time, he constructed a small shelter, collected and accumulated things from the desert and stored them in the shelter he constructed.
One day he left to hunt for food as usual, and on his way back to the shelter, much to his shock he saw that his shelter was on fire along with everything else he had accumulated. All of his possessions were now going up in smoke and the only thing he had left was the one pair of clothes he had on. Initially he was in shock before he become angry. In his fury he began cursing God and yelling, “God, how could you let this happen to me? I’ve been praying every day for months about being rescued and no one has come, and now everything that I have is on fire! How could you do to this to me! Why did you let this happen?”
Later the man was on his hands and knees weeping heavily when he happened to look up and catch sight of a helicopter coming in his direction. The man was rescued and as they were heading back, the man asked the captain, “How did you find me?” The captain responded, “We were flying across the desert when we saw fire and a column of smoke going up. We decided to go check it out and when we did, that’s when we found you!”
In life we are going to be confronted with challenges, problems, and disasters what is a misfortune can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them, he delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is close to the broken hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;” Psalms 34:17-19 NIV
