Daystar University School of Law launches Daystar University School of Law Association (DUSOLA)

On February 2, 2022, Daystar University School of Law students launched the Daystar University School of Law Association (DUSOLA). The aim of the association is to bring together law students, prepare them for the practice, sharpen their skills in mooting and uphold the rule of law among themselves and the entire University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro was represented by the Ag. DVC-FAP, Dr. Evans Amata. Dr. Amata assured the Association of the Vice-Chancellor’s good will and support for the School and its endeavors. Dr. Evans Amata was persuaded of the Association’s potential to sharpen the students’ skill in the practice. He also urged them to uphold the ethos of Daystar University: Excellence, Transformation and Servant-leadership.

Ms. Kethi Kilonzo, an Advocate of the High Court and an adjunct faculty in the School of Law congratulated the University for giving students the platform to express themselves in leadership positions. She called on the Association’s leadership to uphold integrity as they are being looked upon and emulated. Ms. Kethi also called on the students to uphold the rule of law and never give up their power by thinking they are incapable, “change makers are remembered because they choose to be good individuals,” observed Ms. Kethi.

Dean, School of Law, Dr. Maurice Owuor expressed his confidence in the future of Daystar’s Law students stating that aspirations of great leaders are achieved through associations, “do not walk alone,” he urged them. He lauded their progressive steps which are aligned with the University’s and the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of excellence in academics and co-curriculum activities.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Moni Wekesa, an Advocate of the High Court who also doubles as a faculty in the School emphasized on the key role of leadership. He urged the leadership of the association to position themselves, “this is an opportunity for you to position yourselves as young leaders; Lawyers are naturally leaders,” he remarked. He also urged the association to revive the School’s publication; Daystar University Law Journal and have a student magazine that focuses on law students affairs.

The Dean of students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi assured the Daystar University School of Law Association that his office will stand with them and give them all the support that they need.

The Chairperson of the Association, Mr. Evans Owino gave his assurance that the Association will uphold the Daystar University ethos and work together to hone the skills of the law students.
