CPA Phyllis Mutua is the Head of Finance at Daystar University since May 2011. She is a committed and born-again Christian, married to Daniel Mutua (1987) and blest with two children. Currently a member of the Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM) Church in Karen where she and her husband are actively engaged.

She graduated with her MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from Daystar University in June 2007 having got her first degree from the same University in 1997. She achieved her professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) in 2009 and a Master Financial Controller (MFC) in 2012 with International Academy of Business & Financial Management. She is a member of ICPAK the accountant’s professional body.  A life member of Haggai Institute (US) specialized in advanced Christian Leadership.

She began her accounting career at United Distributing Company Ltd (199093) as a Chief Accountant before proceeding to Daystar University for her studies and late joining their workforce where she has worked in various capacities from 1997-todate: as assistant accountant, accountant, Ag. Senior accountant and now as the Chief Manager Finance in the University. 

Her skills and capacity in leadership has developed over time as she served in various governance and leadership roles. Over the years, just to mention a few she has given her dedicated service to various schools as BOM chair or member. At Daystar University she serves has member of Human Resource Committee and secretary to Finance Committee of the council, serves in both Daystar Management Board and Senate. She is also currently serving in the board of Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) first as member of Finance Committee and now the regional treasurer; in the board of Safaricom

Sacco as a member of Nomination Committee representing ICPAK; and in Church in the Deacon Board of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM); and lastly at community level she serves in the board of Makueni County Aka Housing Co-operative society limited as the society’s treasurer.
