I have been a development practitioner and also studied community development that I have a passion for. This is because I am able to see people changing for the better. It could be one person at a time but making their lives better is what makes me happy. I have implemented projects full time for over 25 years at different levels from field staff to Project Manager. Projects that I have implemented include being a Project Director of Water and Sanitation Improvement Program in Mwingi District (ADRA Kenya), Associate Project Director, Station Manager and Health & Nutrition Coordinator in the Food Security Project funded by USAID (ADRA, Kenya), an Assistant Project Officer/Trainer for the Youth HIV/AIDS Project (ADRA, Kenya) and Project Officer/Case Manager in the Bomb Blast Project (ADRA- Kenya). In these projects my main role and strengths were management and handling the Primary health and training issues including curriculum development where needed.
The other projects that I was able to implement were serve as a Technical Specialist in the Water & Sanitation Project in Nandi District funded by Sweden International Development Agency (SIDA) (ADRA Kenya), Project
Officer in the Child –to –Child health project funded by AMREF, a Technical Assistance then Technical Specialist in the Primary Health Care project funded by Matching grant III (matching of the USAID and ADRA, International), (ADRA, Kenya). Funding for this project run concurrently with the water project, where I also supported. I also served as Instructor/Adviser in the Family Planning Project (ADRA, Kenya), the Multi- media Project where my major role was to develop scripts with health messages on issues that were affecting the community and also served as a Community Health Instructor in the Community Health Workers Project where I played a major role in developing the curriculum and materials for the training of health workers who would in turn pass the information to the community.
To this day I am implementing projects in the community. I am currently in a National Steering Committee that is working on eliminating rabies in Kenya by the year 2030. I am working in the umbrella of Sharon Live-on Foundation where we have sourced 400,000 rabies vaccines from Merck International so far that has been distributed country wide in the hope that we can reduce the prevalence of human rabies in the country. This is now a passion that I am dedicated to so that I can see that others do not die from rabies like our daughter did.
With all the experience I had and the knowledge I had acquired I strongly felt it was time to pass these to others and that is when I joined the teaching profession full time. Thus I started part time teaching in Daystar University in 2007, and was also able to give my services to University of Eastern Africa, Baraton and Premese Africa Development Institute all as part time. It is the passion that finally saw me join Daystar University as a full time lecturer since 2013 to date.
As a senior lecturer I prepare my lesson plans, and teach the courses assigned to me, setting of exams and moderating both the exams set and the grades. Setting Continuous assessments is what I also do together with giving assignments and term papers and grading them accordingly. I also mentor both undergraduate and masters students and supervise the masters’ students.
From 2017 to date I have been an, External Examiner for Management University of Africa (MUA) I am currently the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Management (BOM) St. Matthews Girls Secondary School, Septonok.
