Title and Responsibilities

  • Lecturer – Daystar University in the School of  Applied Human Sciences, Development Studies Department.
  • Lecturing and Teaching Community Development Courses as well as Social Work Courses. Testing and Evaluations (examination), Guiding and supervising postgraduate students in thesis writing (Thesis Supervision), Curriculum development and review, Developing linkages with other stakeholders for industrial placement and any other relevant assignments in the school.

Biography

I began my career as a P1 teacher after training at Machakos Teachers College under Teachers Service Commission. Later on after completing my Master of Arts Degree program and satisfactorily completing my fieled attachment I was employed by Child Welfare Society of Kenya where I rose in ranks from a social worker position to a program officer. I have also worked with Compassion International- Kenya Office as program facilitator Western Kenya Region and later posted to Coast Region planting projects and monitoring and evaluating field activities.

Administratively I have supervised and managed over 165 (one hundred and sixty five) field workers both social workers and office administrators. I also coordinated several partners meetings between Compassion  International and other stakeholders where I provided leadership in a number of areas which involved problem solving, decision making, organizing meetings, organizing and carrying out workshops, conferences and seminars and other programmes. I have also been involved in planting projects, training Compassion partners and stake holders as well as providing empowering skills for project and programme implementation. I have worked on part-time basis teaching development related courses at Kabarak University Main Campus, Baraton University Nairobi Campus,

Kisii University Nairobi Campus and Kenya Institute of Management Nairobi Campus. In the year 2004 December till now, I joined Daystar University as a Lecturer in the School of Human and Social Sciences, Development Studies Department. I have been Lecturing and teaching Social Work and Development courses. Supervised postgraduate students and I have also supervised students on field attachment (practicum supervision).

I have skills in the following areas:- teaching, training of trainers, programme and project capacity building, project implementation, community development work, monitoring and evaluating project work for sustainability, decision making, problem solving, proposal writing, project management, report writing, research, computer literacy and use of projectors and other appliances in teaching.

I am an associate member of Kenya Institute of Management and a member of social workers council of Kenya. I have been a chairlady women’s fellowship at Bethany Community Church and a member for over 9 years.
