The Daystar University community, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, officially welcomed the incoming new students and their parents during the May 2026 orientation at the Main Campus, Athi River.

[Athi River: 11th May 2026] On Monday 11th May, Daystar University opened its gates to new students joining the May 2026 Trimester. The new students reported at Main Campus, Athi River, to begin their one-week orientation. They were accompanied by parents and guardians.
On arrival, the students began orientation with registration and verification of academic documents by the Office of the University Registrar (Admissions & Records), followed by the Vice Chancellor’s welcome address, hosted by Prof. Laban Ayiro.
The event was attended by the members of the University Management, who included the DVC ARSA, Prof. Samuel Muriithi, DVC FAP, Prof. David Muturi Wachira, the Chief Manager Human Resource, Mr. Pius Muia, Chief Finance Officer, CPA Phyllis Mutua, the Principal, Nairobi Campus, Prof. Michael Bowen, Campus, the Director Main Campus, Dr. Ann Njogu Wachira, the Dean of Students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, the University Chaplain, Rev. Miano Weche, Senate members, and student leadership.
In his address titled ‘Formation, Faith, Excellence, and Transformation,’ the Vice Chancellor emphasized that Daystar University sought to build a virtuous community, noting that while modern society produces academic leaders grounded in values, Daystar University goes further to add Intelligence Quotient (IQ) which gives competence, Emotional Quotient (EQ), which begets relational wisdom, and Virtuous Quotient (VQ), which leads to moral education.
Prof. Ayiro also highlighted the Design-for-Delight (D4D) mantra, explaining that everything designed at Daystar University is meant to delight.
"We do not merely satisfy expectations, we strive to delight our customers, which entails listening deeply, serving intentionally, and innovating compassionately," said the VC, further urging the new students to practice authenticity and transparency, accountability and openness. He cautioned them against dishonest practices and encouraged.
The DVC- ARSA Prof. Samuel Muriithi reiterated the commitment to servant leadership and the D4D concept. As the head of academics and research, he assured the audience that the University offers quality, market-driven programs approved by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
Prof. Muriithi also pointed out that Daystar University had forged global collaborations with institutions in Africa, India, Canada, USA, and the UK, providing students with opportunities for exchange and internship programs. He encouraged students to strive to achieve their academic goals regardless of the challenges they may face. He also advised them to be content with the money their parents give them.
Prof. David Muturi Wachira highlighted several ongoing and completed infrastructural projects intended to improve and support student life. These include:
- Completion of the School of Nursing Phase 1.
- Construction of Faye Smith Hostel with a 200-bed capacity.
- Ongoing construction of the University Chapel.
- Refurbishment and modernization of the University Library.
- The purchase of a University Ambulance.
- Completion of all three phases of the Boundary Wall to secure the Campus.
He also mentioned upcoming projects which include the Innovation Hub at Nairobi Campus and School of Communication Complex at the Main Campus.
The meeting ended with the Director Main Campus, Dr. Ann Njogu Wachira, acknowledging key teams that had made the event a resounding success. These included the Orientation Team, the Daystar Production Unit, the Event Mover Dr. Josephine Munyao, Management, Senate, student leaders, staff and faculty.
