[Addis Ababa: 4th May- 8th May 2026] Three members of Daystar University’s Falcons men’s handball team proudly donned the Kenyan jersey at the International Handball Federation (IHF) Zone Five Trophy Championship in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Mr. Moses Munasi captained the Under-18 national team, while Mr. Brandon Barasa and goalkeeper John Daniel Hongo represented the Under-20 squad. Falcons coach Mr. Martin Kamau was one of two coaches in charge of the Under-20 team.
The players reflected on the experience as both exhilarating and demanding, saying that competing against formidable opponents from Uganda, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi, and Tanzania required significant adaptation, as the matches were played at a heightened level of skill and intensity.
Despite the challenges, the two Kenyan teams secured third place overall, a commendable achievement that now propels them to the continental stage. In September, they will advance to the African Championship in Ivory Coast, carrying with them the lessons and confidence gained from Addis Ababa.
The Infospot extends hearty congratulations to the Daystar Falcons men’s handball team for their outstanding representation of both Kenya and Daystar University. Their performance is a testament to discipline, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of sport.
